Sharing food, seeds, knowlege, music, ideas, and joy together this past weekend at Our Food, Our Future in Bridgeport!
We heard from Black & Brown organizers, farmers, and activists in and around Bridgeport who are ensuring food security for all through community, including Fridgeport, PT Partners, Radiance Gardens, Khemis Vegan Cuisine, Fairgate Farms, East End Market & Café, Grow Windham, Gren Village Initiative, Small and Minority Business Department of Bridgeport, and more! Together we enjoyed delicious food from Khemis Vegan Cuisine, B Wilson Kitchen, and Sound Coffee while listening to the Lifegiving MC! All day, healer Bridgette Bryan tended a relaxing, recentering wellness space. We had breakfast and lunch together, and created a popup mutual aid pantry, with excess food getting distributed through PT Partners and Fridgeport.
The newly formed Connecticut Food Sovereignty Collective is deeply grateful to every presenter, facilitator, caterer, attendees, childcare providers, interpreters, and everyone who gave time, energy, food, ideas, creativity, and presence to our gathering!
We will free ourselves through regenerative, interdependent, democratic food systems that center Black and Brown leadership, organizing, knowledge, and practices. We invite you to join our movement for food sovereignty rooted in Connecticut!
